Introduction
Toltrazuril belongs to a triazinone compound, is a novel broad-spectrum special purpose anticoccidial drug. It’s a white or almost white crystalline powder, odorless, dissolved in the ethyl acetate or chloroform, sparingly soluble in methanol, insoluble in water. Widely used in chicken coccidiosis by effective function.
The action site of Toltrazuril on coccidia is very extensive. It has effects on two asexual cycles of coccidia, such as inhibiting schizonts, nuclear division of small gametophytes and wall formation of small gametophytes. It can induce subtle structural changes in the developmental stage of coccidia, mainly due to the swelling of endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus and the abnormality of surrounding nuclear space, which interfere with nuclear division. It causes decrease of respiratory enzymes in parasites. Because this product interferes with the nuclear division and mitochondria of coccidia, affects the respiratory and metabolic functions of coccidia. In addition, it can expand the endoplasmic reticulum of cells and cause serious vacuolation, so it has the effect of killing coccidia.
Toltrazuril normally use for below animals.
Poultry: Toltrazuril is mainly used in poultry coccidiosis. This product is effective against like Coccidia heaps, Coccidia brucelli, Eimeria mitis, Eimeria glandularis of Turkey, Eimeria turkeyi, Eimeria geese of geese and Eimeria truncata. It has good killing effect for all of them. It not only effectively prevents coccidiosis and makes all coccidial oocysts disappear, but also does not affect the growth and development of chicks and the production of coccidial immunity by using proper dose.
Lamp: It can effectively control lamb coccidiosis by using proper dose.
Rabbit: It is very effective for rabbit liver coccidia and intestinal coccidia by using correct dose.
Attention need to be pay for continuous application may cause coccidia to develop drug resistance, or even cross resistance (diclazuril). Therefore, continuous application shall not exceed 6 months.
