Doramectin, is a new type of wide-spectrum antiparasitic drug coming fm avermectin family. The insecticidal effect is better than that of avermectin and ivermectin. It is the latest veterinary antiparasitic drug in the world. It can be used to treat and prevent diseases caused by nematodes in the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, subcutaneous tissues and lacrimal ducts of cattle, sheep and pigs, as well as diseases caused by maggots, scabies, lice and ticks in the subcutaneous and nasal tracts.
1. Expelling or kill parasite
Doramectin has a broad-spectrum repellent effect on animals’ internal and external parasites, especially on gastrointestinal nematodes and arthropods, but has no effect on tapeworms, trematodes and protozoa.
It has been improved that the effective rate of Doramectin against the mature and immature stages of cattle and sheep, such as Ostromella elegans, Kechen Ostromella, Haematostrongylus twister, Hemitis twister, Trichostrongylus ehrlii, Trichostrongylus serpentinus, Cupressus punctatus, Cupressus punctatus, Anostoma bovis (also known as hookworm), Trichostrongylus papillaris and Radiated Nodular Nematodes, is 99%.
The effective rate against Trichostrongylus spinosus is 93%~99%;
The effective rate for Trichuris is 92.3%~94.6%;
The effective rate of nematode Spoonae is 96.5%;
The effective rates for adults and larvae of Nematodes helleri are 73.3% and 75.5% respectively (some reports are 97.9%);
The effective rate of sucking nematode on cattle’s eyes is 100%.
Doramectin is also effective against various arthropod parasites in cattle.
The effective rate against tickle mites, scabies mites, blood lice and cowhide flies (1st, 2nd and 3rd stage) occurring naturally in cattle is 100%;
The effective rate of roundworm, nodule worm (odontophagostomus nematode), pulmonary nematode (postroundworm), red roundworm and blue pine nematode in pigs is 100%;
The effective rate against pig blood lice and scabies mites is 100%.
2. Pharmacodynamic characteristics
Doramectin is easy to be absorbed from the injection site, the bioavailability of subcutaneous and intramuscular injection is almost the same, and the injection has no stress and pain. It has a long and efficient effect and can maintain the therapeutic concentration in the blood of animals for a long time, so the protection period is longer. Doramectin has small side effects and can also be used by young animals. It does’t have carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic effects, no effect on immunity after inoculation.
Recent studies have confirmed that the residues of doramectin discharged with feces still maintain insecticidal performance, but it depends on the physical properties of feces and the change of climatic conditions.
