Doramectin

Introduction

Dorametin is a new generation macrolide antiparasitic drug. It is an avermectin antibiotic produced by fermentation of a new strain of Streptomyces avermitis with cyclohexamic acid as the precursor. It is considered to be one of the best antiparasitic drugs in the avermectin family.

The insect repellent effect of Doramectin is similar to Ivermectin, which can inhibit the transmission of nerve impulses between nerves and muscles, and make the insect paralyzed and die away from the host. However, due to the high blood concentration of doramectin in the body, the elimination is much slower, and the maintenance time of the efficacy is prolonged, so the insect repellent effect is better than Ivermectin. Because of there is no allergic reaction when use Doramectin, so it is more safety to be used. It’s also consider as the drug which instead of Ivermectin.

It is used for the treatment and control of internal parasitosis (gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes), ticks and mange (and other ectoparasites).

Clinically shows that Doramectin has a good effect on nematodes in the digestive tract of pigs. According to the report, pigs were administered intramuscularly at the dose of 0.3 mg / kg body weight. The weight gain of artificial infection and natural infection cases was significantly higher than that of the control group at 7, 14 and 21 days after administration. Compared with the control group, the worms were 100% removed without side effects.

It also shows clinically in the treatment of Sarcoptes scabies, there are good effects from suckling piglets to sows.

Doramectin is also available for horses as an oral, flavored, bioadhesive gel under the name.

Doramectin is unstable in nature. It is rapidly decomposed and inactivated under sunlight. Its residual drugs are toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Therefore, attention should be paid to water source protection.
